Better weather is getting closer each day, and I'm excited for the release of our new Spring collection! :D
When drafting this new collection, I wanted to do something that was new and fresh for the upcoming Spring/Summer of 2018: Wearable pieces that were fun and flattering to the body - Pieces that could go from day to night.
Our popular shift design immediately came to mind, and I knew that a floral print would be stunning! I picked a floral Jacquard brocade that drapes beautifully, and has a bit of a weight and stretch.
I also decided to pull a Jacquard brocade from the shelves for another new shift. It is a stretch brocade of black, with a golden shimmer to it. This is the same fabric that was used in the new corset dress that was featured on the Transition runway back in October 2017.
I am also bringing in some new designs for the 2018 spring and summer seasons. Some skater dresses and a couple new bodycons are perfect for the warming weather. You can see more of these designs in the near future in more playful prints.
Once I had the designs finalized and our seamstress, Jessica, had the patterns and samples completed, I scheduled a studio shoot with the talented photographer, Mark Barrett, for the middle March. I wanted to keep the shoot small and intimate, so I only had two models booked.
As much fun as it is to have a large studio set with a dozen or so models, it does take a lot out of me, and in the end, my health has to take first priority.
I booked Cindy Therrien once again for the studio since we have that professional working relationship, and I knew she would deliver on camera as she always does.
Back in October 2017 I did a gala event in Moncton called Ladies' Diamond Night. It was the first event I did where models were already provided for me. That's where I met Facade International model, Melanie Robichaud. There was a freshness to her look that I loved and I kept her in mind for a future collaboration to see how she would do in studio.
I am glad that I did.
Both of my models performed amazingly!
As always, I am a happy designer!
